Action Item 161 - RFK Jr unfit to serve

Background: People are starting to ask a legitimate question: Why do Republicans want people to die? (1) Clearly from their actions, they seem to. From defunding food and medical assistance here and abroad (2, 3) to destroying the CDC (4), to nixing vaccines and other medical research (5), to gutting Medicaid and Medicare (6), to destroying the possibility of solving the problem of global warming (7) and much, much more, the actions of the Trump administration and their enablers in Congress and the courts will have the effect of killing millions of people around the globe as well as the life-sustaining environment we all rely upon.

The question of WHY Republicans want people to die has a number of possible answers. For a few, it could be an astonishing degree of ignorance. For many others, it could be essentially depraved indifference on a massive scale (8). Or it could be a sick “libertarian” or “technofascist” response to the fact that the globe has a finite carrying capacity for humans - a sort of social Darwinism that creates a safe haven for the wealthy while exposing many of the rest of us to conditions that will lead to poverty, disease, servitude and death. In this twisted paradigm of human evolution, it is wealth that provides the survival advantage, rather than genetics and environment. For a thoroughly dystopian view of what is happening and who is doing this to us, see (9) which builds on much previous work (e.g.10-14) and pins the blame on specific individuals (e.g.15-17).

Action: In addition to informing yourself on who is calling the shots and where this is headed, you can join the immediate effort to get rid of RFK Jr. (18-20). This should be a straightforward exercise and a good place to start. Contact all your Representatives (and also the White House). RFK Jr. is mentally unfit, and a danger to all Americans. Trump should have no difficulty firing him – although of course he will never admit that it was a mistake to install him in the first place. Neither will Susan Collins who voted to confirm him. (21)

Urgency: “We have had the luxury of taking democracy for granted.” ~ Joyce Vance. The work we have to do to stop the destruction of our nation and reverse course is going to require persistent effort. Do not be discouraged, be resolute. Do something every day. As Joyce also says, “We’re all in this together”.
