Action 162 Release Epstein Files NOW
Background: “A discharge petition is a rare procedural tool in the U.S. House of Representatives that allows a majority of members to force a bill or resolution out of committee and onto the House floor for a vote, bypassing the committee and majority leadership that would otherwise prevent it from being considered. To succeed, the petition must gather signatures from a majority of House members (currently 218), after which the measure is automatically placed on the House calendar for debate.” (AI Overview)
Right now, there is a discharge petition pending to force the release of the Epstein files, put forth by Democrat Ro Khanna and Republican Tom Massie. The release will redact the identifying information about the victims. 130 Democrats and 4 Republicans have signed. The Republicans in addition to Massie are MTG, Nancy Mace and Lauren Bobert (1). Four Democrats have not signed yet, and one of them apparently is Jared Golden.
A very moving press conference was live streamed this morning to many major outlets. You can find it online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUvBDBbKBqw and probably elsewhere. I (Abbie) listened to the whole thing. It is impossible to express how terribly disappointed we all should be if Jared Golden does not sign the discharge petition. Please contact him immediately. It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that the Republicans are trying to hide the Epstein “files” to protect some very wealthy and powerful people. Nobody representing Maine can be a party to that.
Action: If you have time, watch or listen to the press conference, and call Jared Golden.
