Action 31: Call Our Senators about Tulsi Gabbard! Again!

Although she passed the Senate Intelligence Committee with a positive vote (9 to 8), she hasn’t beenconfirmed by the Senate yet. That vote is set for Monday February 10.

Intelligence analyst Malcolm Nance has said “The only reason the members of the Senate Intelligence Committee voted for her [Gabbard] to go to the full Senate vote was because two critical Republican senators expressed private worries over threats to their lives and those of their families. The MAGA thugs threatened to kill them. So, they voted the way Donald Trump wanted.” (1) Did the MAGA thugs threaten Susan Collins to get her to vote for Tulsi Gabbard? Who else did they threaten? Possibly

Todd Young of Indiana? (2). Nance also said ”... the most successful, intelligent sharing operation in history, the Five Eyes relationship (America, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) started in World War Two, may end if Tulsi Gabbard is made Director of National Intelligence.”  The fear among these and other NATO allies

and Ukraine is that the location, activities, or identities of their agents and assets might be released on a whim by Donald Trump, Tulsi Gabbard (or Elon Musk). No one will trust the US with detailed intel.

Trump has already caused great damage to our intelligence operations. He ordered the CIA to send him the names of all agents hired within the past two years over unsecured email. Although their names “were reduced to full first name, middle initial, and a single letter of the last name, any competent intelligence agency or journalist could identify every person hired into the clandestine service. And just like that, Trump burned every spy we just hired. He did not just destroy the people in those sensitive positions, but those who trained them, those who have been friends to them, and their relatives both in the United States and overseas. Donald Trump has just essentially sentenced them to death, and it will be a Hercules effort for the CIA to return them all to the United States before someone takes a bullet to

the brain or is kidnapped.”

Action: Call our Senators this weekend or Monday. For Collins, a simple message: have the courage to reverse your decision and vote NO on Gabbard. Thank Senator King for his assistance with the filibuster of Vought, and for staying strong in defense of our national security.

I understand that you are a Republican and loyal to your party and President. However, his behavior is such that you must now make a choice between party loyalty and loyalty to your country. In his article Nance alludes to reports that a couple of Republicans on the Intelligence Committee who voted to advance Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination to the full Senate had received death threats prior to voting. Other credible sources corroborate that information. You have announced your support of Gabbard, who is not only unqualified but quite possibly a foreign agent and at a minimum ethically challenged.... One can only conclude that your support of Gabbard’s nomination was issued under threat, or at least many of your constituents will so conclude. If in fact, you or your colleague’s votes were made under threat then the fascist bullies loose in the White House have already won and we no longer live in a democracy. I hope that by your actions in the next critical days and weeks you will prove me wrong. I note, by the way that “Intelligence” is not listed as a “Message Topic” on your website, which I find odd in as much as you are a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and presumably want to hear from your constituents about their concerns on that subject.
