Action 94 – Protest this Saturday, April 19!
WHY? From Democracy Docket this morning: “Timothy Snyder, a professor of history and the author of “On Tyranny,” recently spoke with the American Bar Association’s civil rights section about what Americans can do to resist tyranny and preserve freedom. This week’s quote comes from his remarks during the event:”
“I am sure that the present American administration would be very happy if it could ban all protests — if it could ban them in principle and also if it could prevent them in practice. But it can’t. And that’s why it’s important to protest now. Because six or nine months down the road, maybe you won’t be able to. And so if you don’t get into the habit now, you’re making it easier for them to prevent you from doing it later.”
WHERE? In Hancock County, all starting around noon
Ellsworth, Blue Hill, and Bucksport. (Elsewhere in Maine: see attached poster). Flyer for Ellsworth also attached. Bring friends, carpool, bring your flags and signs. Courageous determination, people!
We SHALL overcome the tyranny. “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.”
