Action 36 Contact your State Republican lawmakers

Background:   Currently Maine is a “blue state” with Democrats holding the Governorship and both houses of the state legislature.  Nevertheless, many of us are represented by Republicans.  The point is, they represent US, not just lobbyists, wealthy donors and MAGA cult members.  Their party has been hijacked by plutocrats who are leading us at breakneck speed into a fascist dictatorship, in direct opposition to the Constitutions of the United States and Maine, which they took an oath to uphold.  If you are a person living in a district held by a Republican, you need to make sure they know how YOU feel about what has happened to their party.  Don’t let them get away with the excuse that they never hear from you.  And note that ALL their constituents, ALL Mainers, regardless of party, will be injured if the Trump/Musk unconstitutional power grab is allowed to continue.  States have an important role as a line of defense.

Action:  Call or write your REPUBLICAN State Senator and Representative.  Check the attached table that shows what district your town is in.  Then see Contact (below) for who your legislators are and how to contact them.  If they are Republican, tell them you are an informed voter in their district. Tell them that you expect them to show leadership in protecting you from the agenda of Project 2025 and the Trump/Musk unconstitutional power grab.  If you have a story to tell about how any of the funding impoundments could affect you personally, tell them!  If you were a Republican once but no longer can agree with the party, tell them!  If your ancestors are rolling over in their graves, tell them!  Ask to be on their newsletter mailing list. Tell them you expect news about important upcoming legislation and how they intend to vote.  Tell them you will be watching their actions in the legislature, as well as reading and listening to their words.

Contact:    See attached chart for your town’s districts.
Bookmark your legislators for future reference
There will be more actions as the legislative session continues

Attend any local public gathering they hold, and make yourself heard.  We are all in this together, including the Republicans who have been snookered into supporting Trump.  Help them get out of the cult.
