Action 231. Flag Day June 14
Background: In a display of cosmic irony, Flag Day, June 14, is also Donald Trump’s birthday. You have doubtless read about the birthday party extravaganza he is planning to hold for himself in Washington, complete with military personnel being used as cosplay props, and an obscene stage showcasing some sort of gladiator theatre.
Well don’t barf just yet. Alternative rallies are being held nationwide under the No Kings umbrella. (1) In fact, there is a concert in NYC at 7:30, with a watch party option. (2) There is a great factsheet available on how to hold a watch party (3). You can print this whole thing out as a pdf. Worth filing away for reference even if you can’t use it on June 14. (What I am not seeing is whether there is a cost involved in streaming the performance from New York, or how you connect to the proper streaming channel, or what happens if the NYC event is canceled.)
But there are also local events! For example, HCDC is promoting the “We Rise Flag Day” rally from 1 – 2 pm at Ellsworth City Hall. (4) Also, it being a Sunday, it would be a good day to hold a sign-making party in your town.
Action: Print and post the attached flyer. Make a sign, show up!
