Action 18 – Send a note to Susan Collins re: her vote against Hegseth
Background: According to the “AI” response to my Google question: “Training a child with praise rather than punishment means actively recognizing and positively reinforcing desired behaviors, using verbal affirmations and encouragement to motivate them to repeat good actions, rather than resorting to negative consequences or reprimands to correct misbehavior; this approach generally leads to better long-term development of positive habits and a healthier parent-child relationship.”
Let’s employ positive reinforcement in the case of Susan Collins and any of our other elected officials if and when they do the right thing. Here is a letter Claire Potter of Brooksville sent to Senator Collins: “I want to thank Senator Collins for having the courage and principle to vote no on Pete Hegseth’s nomination. Today, I feel a deep sense of shame and lack of pride in our country. Our political system is corrupt and failing. It has allowed someone completely unqualified, who has a history of addiction and abuse of women, to lead our armed forces. Going forward I will look to you to be steadfast in protecting traditional Maine and American values. Please work to restore the shattered beliefs of this country. I want to trust you to lead. Thank you.”
