Action 164. Vaccines! Comment!

Background:  Universal access to COVID and other vaccines must be guaranteed to preserve public health. The public has an immediate opportunity to oppose moves to restrict vaccine access by submitting a “Public Comment” at the upcoming meeting of RFK Jr’s newly appointed “vaccine advisory committee” (now possibly full of anti-vaxxers.)  The flood of comments needs to be a tsunami in support of the lifesaving efficacy of vaccines, i.e. in support of actual medical science, not quackery!   If you need background and talking points see the first link in Extra Credit.  Who knows if any of the RFK appointees have a conscience, or can be swayed by an outpouring of public opposition, or just might pay attention to facts?  We have to try.

Here is what the Federal Register tells us about the meeting: Matters to be Considered: The agenda will include discussions on COVID–19 vaccines; Hepatitis B vaccine; measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (MMRV) vaccine; and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The agenda will include updates on ACIP Workgroups. Recommendation votes may be scheduled for COVID–19 vaccines, Hepatitis B vaccine, MMRV vaccine, and RSV. Vaccines for Children (VFC) may be scheduled for COVID–19 vaccines, Hepatitis B vaccine, MMRV vaccine, and RSV. Agenda items are subject to change as priorities dictate. For more information on the meeting agenda, visit https://www.cdc.gov/acip/ meetings/index.html. Meeting Information: The meeting will be webcast live via the World Wide Web. For more information on ACIP, please visit the ACIP website: https:// www.cdc.gov/acip.
