Action 131 NO to Schedule F or “PC”

Background: Late last year while some of us were deep into evaluating Project 2025, we ran across the notion of Schedule F.  This was a dream of Trump’s (or maybe Russell Vought’s) during Trump’s first administration, but it wasn’t implemented.  At that time, we reviewed (with a mixture of alarm and disgust) the training videos (1) that Project 2025 had in store for about 50,000 Trump-loyal Schedule F hires, who would be inserted into the federal workforce and placed in charge of career civil servants.  The goal is to get the career professionals, even those with years of experience and world-renown credentials, to knuckle under to people whose chief qualification is unquestioning loyalty to Trump. It’s worth your time to view some of those videos if you want to understand how this administration was set to function pre-Musk, and probably post-Musk as well.  Schedule F, (now called Schedule Policy/Career or Schedule PC), is back in the news and there is an opportunity to comment on it.  There’s a poll that shows that most people including Republicans prefer a nonpartisan, professionally oriented civil service rather than a cadre of political hacks (2).

Here is the link to the comment form: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2025/04/23/2025-06904/improving-performance-accountability-and-responsiveness-in-the-civil-service  Despite what it says in the text, if you click on the button that says “submit a public comment” you will see that you still have time to comment if you hustle.

( Just FYI, my comment, don’t quote me, use your own voice!) “I have viewed the training videos that Project 2025 intends to use for training the political hires in the Trump Administration.  I find them highly insulting, manipulative, superficial, simplistic, and dismissive of the professionalism and expertise that exists within the civil service.  I have worked at the policy level in State government and as a consultant for a number of federal government agencies.  I can assure you that inserting a layer of sycophantic political appointees between the experts and the politicians is NOT the way to assure that the elected officials are getting the fact-based and unbiased information they need to make good decisions. I urge you to scrap Schedule F or whatever you are calling it these days.  The nation does not need additional bureaucrats running the show when their chief characteristic is to be "yes men".  You can do better than this.”
