Action 126 Call Out Collins

Background:  Having just suggested that you send an encouraging note to Susan Collins (along with the rest of our delegation), we are now inviting you to attend the CALLING OUT COLLINS rally this coming Saturday in Bangor.  This event is live (not streamed), starts at 1 PM, and requires signup in advance.

There has been a lot of focus on Collins in Maine and nationally because:

·      she’s running for re-election in 2026,

·      she is head of the very powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, which is currently considering the Big Ugly Budget Bill,

·      she has been the target of a postcard campaign asking her to live up to the example set by her mentor, Margaret Chase Smith (see Action 109 and extra credit (1)), and

·      she has been widely perceived across the country as not standing up to the bully-in-charge, approving most of his singularly unqualified nominees.

We don’t know the agenda, who the speakers are, opportunity (if any) for you to speak or ask questions, etc.  The event is sponsored by the Maine Democratic Party.  We plan to come prepared if necessary to deliver a short statement about the exigencies of the moment, where we have a President who deserved an impeachment conviction in the past (which she voted for (2)), and deserves the same tenfold today.  We think Bangor Indivisible may be rallying outside the venue starting around noon, but we don’t know if they will be stressing any particular topic.

Action:  If you can come, please use this link to sign up and get details on venue:
